Is electronic publishing pushing traditional publishing toward extinction?

With so many options to choose from when publishing now comes the question, are publishing houses and small bookstores nearing toward extinction? Yes.  If you're an aspiring author trying to get into the door such as myself, then you know how fustrating publication can be. You must understand that before self publishing your work your manuscript must not only be well written, but free of grammer & puncuation errors and must be profitable. Meaning it must be able to stand ground firm and well in the market in order to make great profit, proper marketing is needed to get the ball rolling. How does your book fit in or stand out in the current market? Who's your audience? I think it's fabulous that after 17 1/2 years of constant fight and struggle to obtain publishing contracts that electronic publishing is a rescue and enormous rescue allowing you to live that dream!
